Borenius Russia will be the legal partner of the Golden Trezzini Awards
Borenius Russiais deeply honoured to be the legal partner of the competition, which will involve us carrying out an independent verification of the outcome of the jury members’ voting for winners and runners-up. The start of acceptance of applications for the first open Golden Trezzini Architecture and Design Awards was announced at a press conference on June 29, 2018.
The competition takes place with the support of the Swiss Consulate in St Petersburg. In 1718, new state management bodies known as ‘collegiums’ were founded, and they needed their own buildings. To select a design for construction, Peter I announced Russia’s first-ever architectural competition. It was the work of Domenico Trezzini that was acknowledged to be the best. Exactly 300 years later, the jury will adjudicate on which of St Petersburg’s architectural and design projects will win prizes in the new Golden Trezzini Awards.
The competition’s slogan is ‘Real estate as art’. The organizers have assembled a jury that will bring representatives of big business together with renowned figures from the St Petersburg art scene. The competition will foster debate about the directions in which the city should develop, which is particularly relevant against the current backdrop of development projects being carried out on such a wide scale. Applications for the Golden Trezzini competition will be accepted until 15 October. The awards ceremony, at which the winners will be presented with their Golden Trezzini figurines, will take place on 29 November at the Trubetskikh-Naryshkinykh Palace.
Maya Petrova, Specialist Partner and Head of our Real Estate and Construction Practice, will handle the support work for the competition on the part of Borenius:
‘Real estate as art’ is a slogan that strikes a particular chord with me. Architecture offers a reflection of an era and lives on after us. It shapes a city’s image and affects all our lives much more than may be apparent at first glance. I’m delighted to be able to provide legal support to this wonderful competition, which brings together the best architectural and design projects and gathers those who are working for the good of our city.
