Opaque areas. How will sanitary control affect the developers of St Petersburg? / Delovoy Peterburg
Starting from 1 January 2020, only health protection buffer zones that have been established and registered in the cadaster will be preserved in St Petersburg and the Leningrad Region. Earlier, developers applied reference and estimated areas. The initiative may hit those developers and participants in shared-equity construction whose houses will be inside a buffer zone. According to the law, completed buildings may be demolished, while the commissioning of those buildings that are still under construction may be postponed for an indefinite period.
Arina Dovzhenko, Head of the Real Estate & Construction Practice at Borenius Russia, shared her opinion with Delovoy Peterburg on what difficulties one may have with identifying the borders of such buffer zones and the potential risks for developers.
