In 2020, a number of Russian companies announced the beginning of geographical expansion or plans to start it in the near future. Some are heading abroad (to the CIS countries, South-East Asia, Latin America, or Africa), while others are going to Moscow, to the regions of Siberia and the Urals, or to Krasnodar Territory. It would seem that the “perfect storm” that has engulfed Russian business should have pushed companies to reduce rather than expand their operations. However, in fact, there is no paradox in the growth of geographical activity: “Expansion is the simplest development strategy”, explained the participants in the discussion “Time to go beyond”.
