Draft legislation for online participation in court hearings submitted to State Duma / Comment / Lawyers’ Street independent media project
The government has submitted draft legislation for online participation in court proceedings to the State Duma. Amendments to the Arbitral Procedural Code, Administrative Procedure Rules and Civil Procedural Code of the Russian Federation allow you to participate in hearings via a web conferencing system, including via personal devices. The initiative also proposes that documents can be sent to and received from the court electronically. Lawyers admit that online participation will save time and money. However, a lot depends on the technical implementation of the idea.
Artyom Berlin, a Senior Associate at Borenius Russia, commented for the Lawyers’ Street independent media project on how the virtual court system already works and what difficulties you may face.
