Russian cheese makers litigate rights to “Disney the Lion King” trademark / Comment / Delovoy Peterburg

A small Moscow company, “Cheese for the Whole World”, has filed a lawsuit with the Intellectual Property Court against global entertainment industry giant Disney Enterprises, Inc. The Moscow firm is seeking early termination of legal protection of Disney’s The Lion King trademark under the 29th class of the international classification of goods and services (“cheeses”) due to its non-use.

Vera Zotova, an Associate in the Intellectual Property and Information Technology Practice at Borenius Russia, shared with Delovoy Peterburg newspaper how intellectual property rights are distributed among legal entities.
