The Ministry of Finance has returned to the idea of creating equal personal income tax rates for Russians and foreigners / Comment / Business FM St. Petersburg

According to the newspaper “Vedomosti”, the new idea is mentioned in the draft of the Main Directions of the Budget, Tax and Customs Tariff Policy for 2022-2024.

At present, foreign citizens pay 30%. It is noteworthy that Anton Siluanov proposed to establish the same figure for personal income tax rates for residents and non-residents two years ago, in June 2019 at the St. Petersburg Economic Forum. The 30% rate was supposed to be cut to 13% starting from 2020, but the reform has been postponed for obvious reasons.

Andrei Gusev, Managing Partner at Borenius Russia, shared his point of view with Business FM St. Petersburg regarding upcoming changes in tax legislation.
