An individual entrepreneur from St. Petersburg, Andrey Sharov, who sells various fireworks, applied to the Intellectual Property Court with a lawsuit against JSC “Management Company “Start””, which manages the Domovoy retail chain.
The businessman is asking for the early termination of the retailer’s rights to trademark No. 591658 according to the 13th class of the International Classification of Goods and Services (fireworks) due to its non-use.
Vera Zotova, an Associate in the Intellectual Property and Information Technology Practice at Borenius Russia, told Delovoy Peterburg newspaper why some companies register trademarks for all classes of the International Classification of Goods and Services and do so in different variations.
